The Importance of Showing Work

My daughter recently came to me asking why her teacher marked her wrong on a math problem. I explained to her that although she got the correct answer, she did not show her work, so how is the teacher to know that she didn’t just guess? I showed her how I would have written the solution, and she scoffed that it was easy, of course x=2. Why do I have to show so many steps. I explained that when the problems become more complex, showing those steps will help organize the information for her so it will make more sense. I don’t know if she bought off on my explanations, but it reminded me that showing my work remains a constant theme in my life, especially in my photography. How else will my clients and potential clients know that I can continually produce worthy photographs for them if I don’t consistently show current work on my website, on social media and on my marketing materials. That said, check out my new page on the website called “Before & After”—I’m keeping my portfolio here current :)

Papal Imagery

Last night at 8pm Catholics bid farewell to Pope Benedict XVI. That got me pondering Papal imagery.

Looks like I may be experimenting with candlelight imagery very soon.

The Meeting of the Cousins

Rudy and Oski met for the first time. They are fast friends EXCEPT Rudy, the older dog, can’t believe how much energy, his much younger cousin, has. But, Oski did teach his older cousin how to swim….sort of.
